From the southeast of the southernmost point of the island of Murter "Punta rata", there is a hidden small island with the lighthouse - Kukuljar. Impressive and unfailing flora and fauna on the southern side of the island is an unforgettable experience to all scuba divers, including the beginner who just started their venture into sea beauties, as well as those who have already experienced charm of the sea deeps. It is located only three nautical miles from island Murter, and it gives a full pleasure that scuba diving can offer. Cape Kaprije on the island of Kaprije Forget
the Australian coral reefs and small, multicolored tropic fish which rush
in front of documentary shooting. Once you take a dive on the north-west
side of the island of Kaprije the Australian coral reefs will seem like
a bad amateur movie. And you will certainly be willing to come back! Diving
along the wall which goes from the surface to a depth of 20 metres, and
in the direct closeness, up to 45 metres, thrills all who visit it. The
enchanted "wall of life" of Kaprije is one of the locations you will never
forget, and it is also great for groups with beginners and experienced
divers because it is suitable for all kinds of divers. So if you want some
members of your family or friends to fall in love with scuba diving, Kaprije
will be your best ally.Cape Ljuta on the island of Žirje Near the island of Kaprije there is another interesting island- Žirje. The diving location is on the western part of the island, at the cape Ljuta, and it is one of local divers' favourites, but their ancestor did not share their enthusiasm. The reef, which is ideal for all scuba divers because of its configuration, has been the main cause of numerous naval accidents. One of them, a naval accident which resulted in stranding, gives scuba divers many reasons to visit this place. In fact, this sunken ship lost many of its precious cargo in the deeps. Our divers will provide you a chance to see where it finished! The depth of the reef is from 2,4 metres with a slight edge to the overgrown wall which stretches to 50 metres. Shipwreck "Francesca da Rimini" It
is a great pleasure for every scuba diver to take a peek into the shipwrecks
of old sunken ships and to find out the story of these sunken beauties
at first hand. From the waters of the northern part of the island of Kaprije
you can hear the call of one of the most significant shipwrecks in this
part of Adriatic, "Francesca da Rimini", sunken on March 22st, 1944. Two
British army planes, called "Spitfire", with base on Vis, destroyed Francesca,
which was anchored and hidden on the northern side of Kaprije, with torpedoes.
Francesca is 42 metres long and 12 metres wide. Until today it is preserved
very well and that is why it stands as one of the most favourite locations
of curios scuba divers. Water visibility is great, so you can see the shape
of ship from the depth of 10 metres. The
upper deck stands at the depth of 38 metres, while the keel stands at 50
metres. Addition to this truly unique experience is also a rich fauna which
completes the experience for higher category scuba divers. In fact, pretty
Francesca is an interesting place for fish, such as conger, dentex, as
well as for many other habitants of the sea. |
